her hands are never cold { she's got bette davis eyes }
with these new (vintage) anne klein full-arm, ultra-suede gloves, i can finally do the impossible: wear short sleeve dresses in the heart of new york winter!
balenciaga dress, self-designed chubby, vintage gloves + carpet bag,
colin stuart booties, emanuelle khanh sunnies, self-designed necklace + earrings
something about wearing black in such a girlish shape, the illusion of a naked arm, and the exaggerated, near-throbbing ruby heart (is it sweet snow white or the regally poised evil queen?), causes me to think about the work of irina ionesco, a photographer known for her shocking but somber emphasis on the nude woman-child - cloaked only in jewelry, passion, and death.
. . .and who personifies that dichotomy better than bette davis (all about eve, anyone?)!?!
i read davis' biography primarily because her makeup looked so insane on the cover, and can't even fathom how much inspiration i've absorbed simply observing her smolder.
