The Holiday season has officially begun, and we have plenty of parties and events planned for the upcoming month. Here are the first two, we'll keep you posted as they come!

To start, we'll be partnering with our friend Jessica from The Shiny Squirrel to throw a Holiday party at Anchor Bar this Thursday from 9-1pm, showcasing the spring collections of Miss Lonely Hearts and Julianna Bass. Pieces from both designers will be available for sale, and if you come and say hello, I promise to pour you a drink. Please RSVP at rsvpsixsixsick@gmail.com.



Next Thursday, December 9th we will be DJing for our friends and Triskaidekaphobia stockists, Life: Curated. They will be celebrating the holidays with cocktails, as well as a 20% discount on everything in the store for the night, so it's the perfect time to do some holiday gift shopping. Check out my friends Anton and Maddy, who modeled the holiday collections for the store, on the flier below (uh since you guys are on the invite, you better be there!).

Last Friday, Christina and I had the pleasure of DJing a party at the Broadway Urban Outfitters celebrating the latest arrivals from the Around the World collections. As I've mentioned before, Around the World brings together some of my favorite labels from across the globe, and on this occasion, fans of the lines got to meet the designers behind Dagmar, Minimarket, The Local Firm, and Rodebjer. Normally, I have to go back to Stockholm to get full access to these lines, so it's really nice and convenient to have them all here in one place. Everyone was given passports to stamp at each designer's booth, which they could later exchange for a treat-filled goodybag, including stuff from Rodebjer, Stila, Nyx and Urban Outfitters. They also enjoyed free manicures by Tracylee, drinks from Izze, and polaroid snaps from The Impossible Project.

I personally was excited to meet some of the designers who I hadn't met before, catch up with old friends who were participating in the event (hi W29!), and eat plenty of the hard-to-find Swedish candy on hand. Of course I couldn't help myself from doing some shopping while I was there, and bought a Stine Goya cape that was on sale from the previous fall collection. Stine, who unfortunately was not on hand for the event, is one of my all time favorites (I even chose to wear one of her dresses to the event), and thanks to Around the World, she's finally available on a large scale in the U.S. market. Now if they could only get the excellent Weekday collaborations in stock, I wouldn't miss Stockholm nearly as much! What do you say Team Urban? Can we work on it?

This Saturday, I'm spending the entire day in Soho/TriBeCa, and I encourage you to do the same. I'm starting the afternoon at theSeven x Bblessing x OAK sample sale, before heading to Topshop to DJ, and then finishing the night at TriBeCa Grand, where one of my favorite pop singers, Annie, will be our special guest DJ for the night. Annie's performed and DJed many times at TriBeCa before, and she's always incredible; you can't help but falling for catchy music and her adorable style. Boy Crisis will also be performing live. Hope you can make it, just cut the line and say Six Six Sick at the door to get in!

Yesterday evening, Jimmy and I stopped by Envoy Enterprises to celebrate the latest issue of Block Magazine, featuring our friend Andrew Yang's couture-clad Kouklitas. Only a year ago, we were celebrating the launch of Andrew's doll line with an intimate gathering of friends at a tiny Soho boutique, so it was a pleasant surprise to arrive to a completely packed gallery filled with strangers. I'm so happy for Andrew, who is now able to support himself off the dolls, and even has an extremely exciting upcoming project for next fashion week (I won't disclose it here, but it the biggest names in the industry are behind it). He'll be working nonstop for the next few months, and I've already promised to help out with doll jewelry and knits, in exchange for a doll of course.

My dear friend Gabriella Loeb was also in attendance after flying in from Sweden, where she's starting her clothing line, and was modeling one of her stunning new dresses. I've already written about her incredibly meticulous craftsmanship, and Andrew's favorite doll, Snejana (the original Kouklita prototype), was even wearing one of her dresses. It's so inspiring to be surrounded by such creative, talented friends, and whenever I have the inevitable case of shoe/bag/dress envy, which is particularly heightened by fashion week, I'm always reminded by those around me that the most special and unique things are the ones you make yourself.

Starting this Thursday at Anchor Bar (330 Spring St.) from 11-3pm, Christina and I will be launching a new bi-weekly party featuring our favorite local designers and stores, including many of the talented people who have been featured on this blog. For our first night, we will be holding a Spring preview party for our friend Ying Chu, who I wrote about earlier this month. Our hope is to promote local and emerging talent, and if you have any suggestions for designers who would be a good fit, send them over! If you are in New York, I hope you can join us, and take a look at the pieces from his Spring collection in person. There will be drink specials, and if you introduce yourself to me, I'll make you a drink too!

I know I've been posting plenty of fliers lately, and I have plenty of real pictures from NYFW too, but tomorrow night at 8pm, my good friend Andrew Yang will be presenting his couture Koukalitas with Block Magazine at Envoy Enterprises. All of the amazing dolls he made wearing our favorite looks from Spring 2010 will be on display, and there will be an absinthe fountain on the premise. Obviously this is an event you won't want to miss, just don't forget to RSVP!

Even though I'm going to try my best to keep everything up to date, there might be a slight slow down in posting due to fashion week. I actually have come to realize that I have a limit to how many shows I can attend, and really can't handle any more than six or seven per day. I don't know how other people do it, in the dead of winter, wearing high high heels and ridiculous outfits. It might sound silly, but you have to have a certain amount of athletic endurance to run between shows spread far and wide across town while lugging weighty amounts of crap everywhere. Either that or the personal wealth/stature to hire a driver to chauffeur you from place to place. Obviously I have none of these things.

Anyway, before I start posting photos from the shows, I would like to invite all of you New Yorkers to a very special event that we're DJing at Urban Outfitters next Friday, once all the craziness has died down. As you know, U.O.'s Around the World series is a favorite of mine, bringing together some of my favorite emerging designers from Scandinavia and the rest of the world. For the first time ever, you will also be able to meet all of these designers in one place too, and from 4-8pm there will be a designer meet and greet at U.O.'s Soho location. Visiting designers include our friend Carin of Rodebjer as well as Carin Wester, Stolen Girlfriends Club, Minimarket, The Local Firm, Stine Goya, House of Dagmar, Wood Wood, Madras by A.P.C., and Le Mont St. Michel. Make sure to RSVP--everyone on the guestlist will get 20% off merchandise during the event! See you there!

"Shadows" Au Revoir Simone

I'm sure it's a busy week for many of you, with Fashion Week officially starting. While we're definitely trying to figure out how to work some shows into our schedule, we'll probably miss half of them since we'll be prepping for the Chictopia.10 Conference on Saturday at Allegra LaViola Gallery. We'll be presenting our line, Triskaidekaphobia, at the conference along with several other designers, as well as helping throw the after party at Baddies TriBeCa Grand Hotel. I'm so excited about our DJs. We'll have our friends Erika from local darling band Au Revoir Simone, who is a style icon in her own right, and Swedish indie-superstar Victoria Bergsman of Taken By Trees, formerly of The Concretes. Come by early, and make sure to say Six Six Sick at the door to get in.

Also, if you feel like trudging through the snow, on Friday night we're going to have a very special French DJ duo performing a surprise show at Webster Hall. It's a secret, but I'll just let you know that their name starts with a J, and you have to guess the rest.

EDIT: We are moving the party to The Sanctum at TriBeCa Grand on 2 Avenue of The Americas because there was a fire at The Village Party Store above Baddies, and the space is still a little damaged!

I know I've always been terrible about alerting you all to all the live performances that happen at our TriBeCa Grand parties, as I myself often don't know until I get there (I know, super-flaky). That's why I was sitting at my table a month ago when I went to check and see who was covering Young Love, only to find that it was actually...Young Love. I do seriously apologize though, since we've had some amazing shows recently, including Jessica 6, the new band headed by Nomi of Hercules and Love Affair.

This Saturday we're having another special guest performance from The Suzan, an incredibly catchy all-girl dance-punk group from Japan, who were recently discovered by Bjorn Yttling of Peter Bjorn & John. Just looking at their videos, I've already fallen for the deadly combination of their slightly deranged Harajuku styling and their sassy ESG-style sound. In fact, I expect a U.S. invasion along the lines of Ladies and Gentlemen: The Fabulous Stains, since they harness that same rebel girl energy. Expect to see me front row, dressed in my groupie-best.





"You Know Nothing"

On Sunday night, we wrapped up our long Halloween Weekend with a party with Screaming Mimi's for Dios De Los Muertos. It was a great way to celebrate the end of a hellish month for the Mimi's staff (Halloween is their busiest season), and we started out with an intimate Mexican dinner at Mimi's, laid out on a table that Christina had decorated for the occasion. Some of the store's besties showed up for the occasion including Lynn Yaeger, Mr. Mickey and Drew from Paper, Richie Rich, and our favorite party uncle, Benjamin Liu (yay!!!). Everyone was out in their finest Dios De Los Muertos attire, and Richie (who was dressed as a little Piggy), helped out by providing face painting for those who didn't already have it. Afterwards, we all headed over to 1OAK, where Mimi's window wizard Eric Vidmar acted as our special guest host, and all the gorgeous Mimi's girls took turns DJing. Even though we get dressed up in absurd outfits at least once a week, it's only socially acceptable once a year, and we make it a priority to take full advantage of it. For Halloween Eve, I got to wear my Martin Margiela diamond top while I rode the subway, and for once barely even received a single glance--who cares when there is a sea of scantily clad witch-wenches and sexy nurses to stare at? Christina however had the best outfit of the entire night, evoking multiple terrified screams from startled strangers who were truly terrified. Wearing a mask on the back of her head, and all of her hair bunched in a ponytail in front of her face, she went as a backwards girl, freaking everybody out when she ran, ordered a drink, or walked up the stairs "backwards." I don't think I've had so much fun at Halloween since I was of trick-or-treating age. Thank you to everyone who made it out to our Halloween Party at Anchor Bar on Sunday! We had such an amazing time that we needed all of yesterday to fully recover. I never feel safe bringing my big fancy camera out to parties, but I did get a few decent iPhone photos of the night. I finally downloaded the Hipstamatic iPhone app, which is, no exaggeration, LIFE CHANGING. After some futzing around, I fixed my virtual camera to a setting that makes my crappy camera phone pics look like old-fashioned Polaroid transfers, which I used to make back in high school. I think the fuzzed-out look goes perfectly with our Carnival theme...
