The Holiday season has officially begun, and we have plenty of parties and events planned for the upcoming month. Here are the first two, we'll keep you posted as they come!

To start, we'll be partnering with our friend Jessica from The Shiny Squirrel to throw a Holiday party at Anchor Bar this Thursday from 9-1pm, showcasing the spring collections of Miss Lonely Hearts and Julianna Bass. Pieces from both designers will be available for sale, and if you come and say hello, I promise to pour you a drink. Please RSVP at rsvpsixsixsick@gmail.com.



Next Thursday, December 9th we will be DJing for our friends and Triskaidekaphobia stockists, Life: Curated. They will be celebrating the holidays with cocktails, as well as a 20% discount on everything in the store for the night, so it's the perfect time to do some holiday gift shopping. Check out my friends Anton and Maddy, who modeled the holiday collections for the store, on the flier below (uh since you guys are on the invite, you better be there!).

Probably the best thing that has come out of starting this blog is getting to meet so many people I wouldn't have met otherwise, whether they're my favorite bloggers, or simply fashion enthused readers. Although Christina has embraced this virtual world with some trepidation, asserting multiple times that she's a "real world person" (although I know she has a secret penchant for The Sims, ha) there are plenty of incredibly real people I've met through online contact.

One of the best examples of this is Kate, from The Moon and Mars, a new online boutique that just launched this month. By chance, I met her while I was working at the D&A tradeshow, where she approached me and told me she was a reader of the blog. We set up a coffee date, and she was gracious enough to view our new jewelry line, Triskaidekaphobia. Kate comes from a similar background as myself, having studied a completely non-fashion related subject in college before eventually deciding to completely switch careers, and when we sat down to chat, I felt like I was meeting up with an old friend. I'm so excited that our line will be carried in her store, along side some of my favorite designers, like Daydream Nation, Surface to Air, Grey Ant and Les Bijoux de Sophie. While our jewelry won't be arriving until mid-December, here are a few of my favorite pieces that are currently available.

I know I've already written plenty about the Around the World collections, and the event we DJ'd last week at Urban Outfitters, but I genuinely cannot get enough of it. I have been a longtime fan and supporter of many of the Scandinavian designers involved, and am so happy to have them at arms reach rather than an ocean away that I've started making compulsive visits to the store to see if new stuff has come in (yes, I am a freak and I need to get a life). As I mentioned earlier, I was lucky enough to score the Stine Goya blanket coat that I had been eying all winter at a serious discount during the party, and it's been perfect for the recent round of mild weather we've been having in New York. Now that the spring collections are making their way into the stores, I have my eye on a whole new lot of goods. The U.O. team really outdid themselves putting together the lookbooks, hiring emerging photographers from all across the globe to shoot each of the different designers involved, as well as commissioning infamous director and artist Harmony Korine to shoot the Spring Preview. In some shots, the clothes are a little difficult to make out, but you can get a general idea. I know that our friend Carin Rodebjer's confetti printed pants are on the top of my wishlist!

Last Friday, Christina and I had the pleasure of DJing a party at the Broadway Urban Outfitters celebrating the latest arrivals from the Around the World collections. As I've mentioned before, Around the World brings together some of my favorite labels from across the globe, and on this occasion, fans of the lines got to meet the designers behind Dagmar, Minimarket, The Local Firm, and Rodebjer. Normally, I have to go back to Stockholm to get full access to these lines, so it's really nice and convenient to have them all here in one place. Everyone was given passports to stamp at each designer's booth, which they could later exchange for a treat-filled goodybag, including stuff from Rodebjer, Stila, Nyx and Urban Outfitters. They also enjoyed free manicures by Tracylee, drinks from Izze, and polaroid snaps from The Impossible Project.

I personally was excited to meet some of the designers who I hadn't met before, catch up with old friends who were participating in the event (hi W29!), and eat plenty of the hard-to-find Swedish candy on hand. Of course I couldn't help myself from doing some shopping while I was there, and bought a Stine Goya cape that was on sale from the previous fall collection. Stine, who unfortunately was not on hand for the event, is one of my all time favorites (I even chose to wear one of her dresses to the event), and thanks to Around the World, she's finally available on a large scale in the U.S. market. Now if they could only get the excellent Weekday collaborations in stock, I wouldn't miss Stockholm nearly as much! What do you say Team Urban? Can we work on it?

Caged pearl rings

Last week, Jules Kim presented her latest addition to the Bijules collection, "The Seize Kind," a group of incredibly sensual, pearl-based baubles that are meant to celebrate the sea's precious harvest, as well as the feminine organism that shapes it. Jules always knows how to put on a good show, and the delicate gems were passed around the rooftop of The Gramercy Park Hotel by Big Gunz, an underground boxing club that's members happen to be male models. One of the hunky presenters described the club as "a cross between Zoolander and Fight Club," and if that doesn't pique your interest enough, I suggest you read this article from the latest issue of New York Magazine. Working their way through the throngs wearing a single 18k gold and pearl teardrop adhered to their faces, the boxers stirred up quite a frenzy, and it was difficult to edge out other members of the gawking audience for a peek at the beautiful jewels. Luckily I work with Jules doing her wholesale sales, so I will get plenty of closer looks on my own, but here are a few shots I took at the show, and today at Capsule. If you are in New York, and would like to see the new collection yourself, you should stop by Boutique. Eat. Shop. My BGF (Best Gay Forever), Brandon, is currently interning at Alejandro Ingelmo, so I stopped by last Friday to take a peek at the new collection, while gossiping and snarfing down Baked by Melissa cupcakes (none of the other food-phobic fashion-folk wanted anything to do with them). The collection was filled with sky-high booties with built-in platforms that will literally put your head in the clouds. In spite of the vertiginous heights, Brandon & Co. claim that the shoes are actually quite comfortable---some styles even have built in shock-absorbers etc. I'll have to try them to believe it. Maybe they will lend me a pair so I can give them a test-run myself? I'm personally dying to get my hands on the faux-pony fur booties that are partially covered in a waxy treatment, which gives them an oddly appealing smooth/furry texture. And who could resist the winterized version of Ingelmo's signature strappy-sandal, with all the straps in the same place, but encasing a suede round-toe boot? They look like they belong on the feet of Judy Jetson. Anyway, here is some good old fashioned shoe porn, enjoy!

Yesterday evening, Jimmy and I stopped by Envoy Enterprises to celebrate the latest issue of Block Magazine, featuring our friend Andrew Yang's couture-clad Kouklitas. Only a year ago, we were celebrating the launch of Andrew's doll line with an intimate gathering of friends at a tiny Soho boutique, so it was a pleasant surprise to arrive to a completely packed gallery filled with strangers. I'm so happy for Andrew, who is now able to support himself off the dolls, and even has an extremely exciting upcoming project for next fashion week (I won't disclose it here, but it the biggest names in the industry are behind it). He'll be working nonstop for the next few months, and I've already promised to help out with doll jewelry and knits, in exchange for a doll of course.

My dear friend Gabriella Loeb was also in attendance after flying in from Sweden, where she's starting her clothing line, and was modeling one of her stunning new dresses. I've already written about her incredibly meticulous craftsmanship, and Andrew's favorite doll, Snejana (the original Kouklita prototype), was even wearing one of her dresses. It's so inspiring to be surrounded by such creative, talented friends, and whenever I have the inevitable case of shoe/bag/dress envy, which is particularly heightened by fashion week, I'm always reminded by those around me that the most special and unique things are the ones you make yourself.

Last night I met up with an old friend who's in from out of town to catch up. We ended up having a heart to heart about the ups and downs of love, and the alternating agonies and ecstasies that one cycles through in an average relationship. Even the best and the healthiest relationships have their rainy days, and I'm old enough to understand that no human is infallible. I think one the greatest, and truest records of all time is the Magnetic Field's album, 69 Love Songs, which outlines the sad, the saccharine, and the just plain silly moments in any love story. My much adored husband led me to one of the best internet finds I've come across in months, 69 Love Songs, Illustrated, a collection of drawings and comics by different artists that all refer back to the classic album. As teens, we both listened to this album from different parts of the world, and still listen to it quite frequently today.

I am a closet romantic at heart, and want to believe that all my friends will have long, lasting relationships, and that the heartbreaks will be few and far between. I can play tough, but I do have a soft spot for all the trappings of modern romance, and Stacey Bendet's latest Alice and Olivia collection is full of pretty things out of your sweetest candy-colored dreams. These are the perfect outfits for a cheerleader of love, through the thick and thin spots. I know that I left the conversation with my friend only half-jokingly offering to be her dating coach (dating in New York is a particularly harrowing experience).
