{ holiday at home }

in my family, we're big on tradition ~ especially at christmastime ~ and every year, the list of holiday rituals grows. we love adding new ones! indeed, since last year {when my sister and i coordinated in salt + pepper ensembles} we have decided it will forevermore be customary to wear lace on christmas day:

glamour jr wears: 'in god we trust' headband, 12by12 blouse + skirt, vintage + the glamourai jewelry, guess shoes

{vintage glasses littered about the house}

wearing: f21 earrings, rodarte for target shirt, helmut lang bandeau, ports 1961 skirt, target socks, colin stuart shoes

{ night of a thousand awesomes }

last night's alexander wang party ~ held at the same mobil gas station where elle.com found me last week ~ may easily prove to be the highlight of new york fashion week. i probably don't even need to leave the house again.

in the coolest catering choice ever, all the candy and red bull and tic-tacs in the convenience store were free, so the crowd was completely sugar-high by the time COURTNEY LOVE appeared onstage (in front of the carwash). no big deal, just totally surreal.

i was glad to have my favorite merry-maker by my side to geek out with, and to assure me that all the ridiculousness around us was real:

case in point? i shouldn't have been a bit surprised to run into the inimitable tavi backstage (aka: the oil change center) after the show. that's just fashion week for ya!

{ costume of the day } addendum

providing a quick addendum to my last post, elle.com updated their blog with this photo of me and my newfound partner-in-crime, krystal, of the awesome site what is reality anyway:

turns out it's true what they say ~ blondes do have more fun!

{ the owls are not what they seem }

i love this picture that craig, of altamira nyc, took of me and my new blogger BFFs, joelle and noelle, during the weardrobe conference this past weekend:

they constantly made me laugh, and we bonded over: the hard-knock nyc life, loving silly expensive things and small fancy dogs, whiskey on the rocks, our shared determination to acquire the chanel 'jade' polish, and complete unabashed jealousy over each others' wardrobes.

go read their blog, the owls are not what they seem!

{ loco en mexico } part 3 / sunrise + sunset

now that i'm back home in nyc (where everything seems so grey) it's the colors of mexico i'm missing most...

~ the view from our breakfast table ~

the glamourai wears: anthropologie dress, drugstore sunnies, topshop earrings, self-designed necklace, antique turkish ring, vintage bag

~ the view from our balcony at dusk ~

glamour junior wears: rayban aviators, eliza page earrings, traditional mexican tunic from oaxaca, vintage horn bangle

{ loco en mexico } part 1

just back & still spinning from a gorgeous girls-only getaway in mexcio, where my mom, sister and i indulged in sunlight, snorkeling, sangria, and spanish smocks!

i'm still sorting through our stockpile of snapshots, but here's a quick round-one to sun-up your day!

(glamour junior salutes the sand in a tropical tunic)

(meanwhile, i consider a private patio jacuzzi in a michael kors maillot, pearl river kimono, and self-designed necklace)

beachy stylings aside, we couldn't compete with the natural views - and were certainly too lazy to try - but i swear i'll share a few more looks nevertheless.

it's good to be back!

goldie lux

chic new yorker and soon-to-be parsons grad cleo mercedes snatched these beautiful two-tones away from me (thieving etsy shopper!), but was generous enough to gloat over her victory by sharing this photo:
(HAPPILY FOR US ALL, I'LL HAVE A FEW NEW PAIRS UP NEXT WEEK)

isn't she just like a sexy 70's sleuth in her magical mystery shades and gold burberry trench?!? her name reminded me of another glamular cleo ~ 1970's jazz sensation, dame cleo laine:

in a streamery of consciousness, these two miss cleos next made me think of one chloe ~ she of the beautiful beckerman sisterly three, whose blog i just discovered and am consequently completely addicted to:

(ABOVE, CHLOE BECKERMAN / BELOW, HER SISTER CALLIANE BECKERMAN)

(ABOVE, CALLIANE BECKERMAN / BELOW, CALLIANE'S TWIN, SAMANTHA BECKERMAN)

the sisters beckerman collaborate on ~ what else? ~ beckerman ~ a whimsy-full clothing line ~ and seem to know all the best secret vintage spots in new york city. warning: girl-crush triple threat!

oh baby don't be shy / fashion's got a lazy eye

it seems i've just been schooled on how to properly wear my own accessories, by our special guest star, miniglam:

"see that girl, watch her go
red high heels and pretty toes
silly puttie . . . " (lady gaga)

she tells me that the pinker and sparklier your heels, the closer you are to high school. there's some kind of wisdom there, i'm sure.

what costume shall the poor girl wear?

a friend of mine recently sent over a sweet surprise: charming, pink, vintage yves saint laurent frames (thanks friend!). when they arrived, i was spending the day with another, very small friend (who happens to be an aspiring supermodel), and the new frames inspired an impromptu photo shoot:

while it's obvious this kid's got bright lights in her future, i also expect these rims to play a starring role in mine. i just know they're going to be a summer favorite, so i have a big decision to make: what sort of lenses to fit in them?

ladies and gentlemen, meet the candidates ~

(a) a soft, mid-tint, fawn ombre lens:

(b) a deep, diva black lens (matching limo windows not included):

(c) a space-age, bottle-green, beetle wing, reflective lens:

a decision if this magnitude can't be made alone! advise me, please!

what will it be? a, b, or c?
please leave your selection in the comments below.
the winning lens will be unveiled in one week!

(all mini-glam model bookings on hold until she graduates the 1st grade)

get on with your glam self

blame it on the recession, hand it to all the cool girls crafting across the internets, give it to the green movement, but there's no denying the do-it-yourself ethos has gone viral!

some late favorite links ~
glamourai reader madeline created her own version of my DIY candied crumbcatcher, itself an awestruck imitation of the gorgeous marni breastplates. i love that this project is so personal ~ it's all about integrating and celebrating your personal favorite trinkets:

(above, reader madeline's diy interpretation)

louis vuitton's runway was another favorite, for its delightful deluge of ditzy DIY ideas, one of the simplest suggestions being the groovy, pre-school-style, paper chain collars. ever on point, elle.com has launched a video tutorial for recreating the look here.

i'm thrilled that the freshest fashion DIY's are all about decorating, rather than destructing (enough with ripped tights already, no?!).

april showers bring craft hours!

{ indie 100 }

i spent most of this morning discovering a bounty of beautiful new {to me} bloggers, thanks to the weardrobe 100 ~ a supercool directory of the top style blogs of 2009. i'm honored to be part of the lineup, and even more excited to add some fresh links to my daily visit list. it's yet another great way to kick off the new year!

{a few new favorites! pictured, clockwise from top left: elinkan, ployy, natalieoffduty, gillofilippa, ...anywayss}
